It’s winter here in sunny Southern California which means one of a few things for fashion. One, we all pull out the winter coats, earmuffs and scarves when the temperature drops below 60 after the sun goes down. Two, we dream of a white Christmas while we hang Christmas lights on palm trees. Three, we wear our same daily attire but with boots, floppy hats and toned down colors.
Of course, the fact that temperatures are still in the 70s and 80s does not negate the fact that it is the holiday season. We love our holiday dinners and cocktail parties as much as the next girl, and many times, this love affair starts to show up on our waistline. Enter… the shift dress! While the shift dress is perfect for the holiday season, it really is a closet staple year-round because it is so forgiving. Characterized by the straight shape, it is the epitome of effortless chic and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Thick midsection? Post-baby? No problem! The shift dress covers it all. We love this beautiful floral print dress from Target (shopping links at the bottom) because the colors makes it perfect to wear florals any time of the year.
The antique gold finish on this J. Crew necklace goes perfectly with the hunter green dress.
Add a tan floppy hat, slouchy boots and sunglasses to pull together the look. Pulled together but not fussy. Effortless and classic.
